Major-General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, and his Russian counterpart, Valery Gerasimov, have discussed fight against terrorism amid Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ongoing visit to Iranian capital, Tehran.

The two top generals talked about “diplomacy of defense” and the ways to fight against terrorism in Syria as well as helping the “front of resistance”, IRNA news agency reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Iran on Wednesday to meet with the top Iranian leaders.

According to the Iranian local media, Putin is expected to discuss regional crises such as the Syrian conflict, the nuclear deal as well as economic and bilateral ties with Iranian officials.

Putin will also participate in a trilateral meeting with Iranian and Azerbaijani counterparts, Hassan Rouhani and Ilham Aliyev.
