Georgian ambassador presents credentials to Uzbekistan’s president

Georgia's ambassador to Uzbekistan, Konstantin Zhgenti handed over his credentials to Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov.

A meeting was held following the presentation of credentials, Georgia's Foreign Ministry told Trend.

During the meeting the parties discussed bilateral relations, according to the ministry.

They also discussed regional and global security, including the situation in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

The parties emphasised the development of economic cooperation and discussed the idea of ​​a new 'Silk Road', Georgia's role in it and Uzbekistan's assistance for the project.

Georgian ambassador informed Uzbek president about the political situation in Georgia, the ongoing reforms, as well as foreign policy issues, including relations with Russia.

Uzbek president reiterated his support for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
