The Guatemalan Health Ministry reported on Thursday the first death from A/H1N1 flu in the country, Xinhua reported.
According to information reaching here from Guatemala City, Guatemalan Health Minister Celso Cerezo told reporters that the deceased patient was a 35-year-old man, who died at the National Hospital of Cuilapa in San Rosa department, in the country's southeast.
Health authorities have registered by Wednesday night 246 cases of A/H1N1 flu in the country. The country's first flu case was confirmed on May 5.
Currently, Guatemala is on an orange alert level and all elementary schools in the country are temporarily closed as a preventive measure against the spread of the flu virus.
