The Brazilian Confederation of Soccer named Corinthians' head coach Mano Menezes as new national team manager after their first choice Muricy Ramalho was not released by Fluminense on Friday, Xinhua reported.
On Friday morning, Teixeira met with Muricy Ramalho for 90 minutes. The coach walked out of the meeting as the head coach of the Brazilian squad. However, Fluminense had the last say, prohibiting Ramalho' s early exit.
Teixiera then decided to call Menezes to the position with aspirations of capturing the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Menezes did not give a definitive response. He furthered that he will hold a press conference on Saturday morning after the team' s practice to address the issue.
As with Ramalho, Menezes will need the immediate release from his contract in order to assume full responsibility of the national team. Should Menezes and Corinthians accept the offer, the coach will have the immediate task of forming his team for the up-coming friendly against the United States in New Jersey on August 10.
