Turkey hopes for an early resolution of the crisis in relations with the US, which started after the arrest of a US Consulate General employee, Turkish media reported citing Mahir Unal, deputy chairman and spokesman of the country’s ruling Justice and Development Party.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry is currently holding talks on this issue, according to Unal.
He noted that crisis in Turkey-US relations will not affect military cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier, the US suspended issuance of visas to Turkish citizens due to the arrest of an employee of the US Consulate General in Istanbul.
Turkish authorities, commenting on the arrest of the Consulate General’s employee, noted that he had links with the movement of Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of being involved in the 2016 military coup attempt in Turkey.
Turkey also suspended the issuance of visas to US citizens.
