Turkey shares data on cargo shipping via local ports from Algeria for 9M2021

The ports of Turkey in 10M2021 handled 5.4 million tons of cargo from Algeria, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend Nov. 18.

According to the ministry, at the same time, 224 692 tons of cargo from Algeria were delivered to ports by ships under the Turkish flag, and 3.3 million tons were delivered by ships under the flags of other countries.

During the reporting period, ships under the flag of Algeria delivered 1.8 million tons of cargo to Turkish ports.

It is reported that Turkish ports handled 254,889 tons of transit cargo from Algeria in 9M2021.

At the same time, the ports of Turkey handled 286.3 million tons of cargo in total since beginning of 2021.

In particular, during the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey amounted to 22.2 million tons.

Also, cargo transportation through the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 263.8 million tons.

In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled over 57 million tons of transit cargo.

In September 2021, the ports of Turkey in total handled 32.8 million tons of cargo.

It is noted that cargo transportation through the ports by ships under the Turkish flag in September 2021 amounted to 2.4 million tons, while by ships under the flags of other countries – 30.5 million tons.

According to the ministry, Turkish ports handled 6.9 million tons of transit cargo in September 2021.
