Head of Iran's central bank Mahmoud Bahmani resigned on Monday from his post; however the resignation was not accepted by senior government officials, MNA reported.
Bahmani decided to resign as parliament protested to what is called "nightly withdrawal" of money from the country's banks. He was summoned to the parliament over the issue.
The withdrawal of money from banks had been ordered by the government and a decision of 5-person committee.
The Clause 5 of the government decree, which allowed withdrawing money, has stripped central bank directors from their authority, the Mehr News Agency has learnt.
