Baku, Azerbaijan, June 27
By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:
Turkey considers creating safe zones in Syria between the cities of Aleppo, Idlib and the Turkish border with the inclusion of the border towns Kobani, Jarabulus and others, depending on the population density in these areas, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet said June 27.
The armed forces of Turkey have already appealed to the government for the adoption of such a decision, according to the newspaper.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu urged the UN to make a decision on the establishment of safe zones in Syria.
The Turkish authorities are actively promoting the establishment of safe zones in northern Syria near its borders.
Syrian authorities have repeatedly condemned the Turkish government's intention and said that Damascus strongly rejects the creation of buffer zones no matter where they are located and no matter what grounds are for it.
