Resident Representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Azerbaijan Office Kim Eun Suk and Chairman of the "Azersu" OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov signed Record of Discussions (R/D) of the Project "A Total Solution for Water Shortages on the Absheron Peninsula: Establishment of Water Supply and Sanitation System in Kurdakhani Settlement in the Absheron Peninsula on Sept. 15, 2011, KOICA reported.

The objective of the Project is to upgrade the standard of living of the residents and enhance the environmental conditions by providing water supply and sewerage system in Kurdakhani Settlement in the Absheron peninsula.

The Project will support the Azerbaijani government's efforts to develop alternative water resources and adapt to climate change. In addition, the Project aims to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the two countries through the successful implementation of the Project.

KOICA will provide the following activities during the Project:

1) Detailed Design, construction and construction supervision of water supply and sanitation system in the Kurdakhani settlement, 2) Provision of equipment and materials necessary for the implementation of the Project, 3) Dispatch of Korean experts to Azerbaijan to provide technical advice for the implementation of the Project, 4) Invitation of Azerbaijani officials and specialists for the training program in Korea

KOICA will provide a grant aid USD 26.180.000 for the Project and project period will be 4 years (2011-2014)
