Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 Auguast / Trend corr. R.Hafizoglu / Murder of Mahmud Yunis, the leader of the Iraqi Islamic Party, which unites Muslims Sunnites in Parliament, is an impact to start a new clash between Shiites and Sunnites.

"Murder of Sunnite leader may lead to deepening of the gap between Sunnites and Shiites in Iraq," Ahmad Tagiy, Iraqi political scientist, told Trend .

Representative of Iraqi Islamic Party Sunnites, Mahmud Yunis, was murdered by unknown persons in the Mosul region on 7 August.  This information was spread by the information agency Voice of Iraq.

"In spite of the personality of the murderer has not been revealed, the guess- works gave grounds to say that the murder was committed by terrorists of Al-Qaeda in Iraq," Tagiy said via a telephone from Kirkuk.

Another Arabian political scientist Mahmud Koush believes that Iran is account for murder of Sunnite leader.

"The war between Sunnites and Shiites still continue in Iraq, which becomes apparent or secret from time to time," Koush told Trend via a telephone from Copenhagen. According to Koush, despite of the Iraqi Sunnites, who are loyal to national unity and truce, Shiites act within the framework of Iranian interest.

Tagiy considers that it will be wrong to accuse Shiites of murdering of Sunnites leader. "Al- Qaeda is interested most in murdering of the Sunnite leader. According to Al-Qaeda members, participation in Parliament is sin and we must kill sinners," Tagiy said. The incident will have negative affect on fragile stability in Iraq.

Tarig Al- Hashimi, Vice President, heads the Iraqi Islamic Party, established in 1960. In spite of the other Sunnite blocs boycotted the parliamentary elections in Iraq in 2005, Iraqi Islamic Party participated in the elections and at present, it is represented with 17 MPs in the Parliament.

"Murder of the Sunnite leader shows that the struggle between Sunnites and Shiites in Iraq still continues," Koush said.
