Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 August / Trend corr. I.Alizade / The person, who blasted the Abu Bakir Mosque in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, were about 27 to 30-year old, Taleh Bashirov, the only eyewitness of the incident said to Trend .
On 17 August at 09.50 P.M, blast took place in the Abu Bakr Mosque during the evening prayers. Unknown broke the mosque's window with a stone and threw two RGD-1 grenades into the mosque.
Bashirov, a resident of Gazakh Region, works as a welder at the construction of Heydar Aliyev Centre, which is being built in Heydar Aliyev avenue.
According to Bashirov, he was late for evening prayers in the incident day as he was left work very late.
"On 9.00 p.m. when I was approaching the Mosque I saw a man running across Ruhulla Akhundov Street. I run 300-400m following him. I could not chase him because I was tired. Running man was 27 to 30-year old, 170sm in height and was wearing black trousers and shirt," the eyewitness said.
Inspectors confirmed Bashirov's being only eyewitness of the incident and said that he was interrogated on 17 and 18 August.
Vagif Abbasov and Tayyar Valiyaddinov died as a result of blast, Javid Guliyev, the deputy of the Narimanov District Public Prosecutor said to Trend .
The Mosque's devouts said to Trend correspondence that injured 24-year old Rashad Ismayilov died at the hospital.
According to the Medical Clinic Centre, Rashad Jamalov and Dashgin Ibrahimov are under intensive care. Ismayilov Rashad discharged, Ruslan Safaraliyev was taken to Ophthalmological Centre and the rest three people are at the Surguery Department.
Three people dies and 11 were wounded as a result of this incident, Akif Rzayev, the inspector told journalists on 18 August. He answered to jounralists' question concerning terror attack that the investigation was being examined as a homicide.
Gamat Suleymanov, the Imam of the Mosque, got slight injury and discharged after the primary medical aid.
Hidayat Orujov, the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations visited the place of incident a while ago.
Although many people gathered in front of the Mosque for the morning pray, the Mosque was announced to be closed.
At present law enforcement bodies are examining the incident place.
The Baku City Police runs high security in connection with the incident. Police posts are formed at different places of the capital and all suspicious transport means are being examined.
According to the Baku City Public Prosecutor's Office, the case is being investigated at the Baku city Public Prosecutor's Office and criminal case was filed on Articles 120.2.4 (deliberate homicide through general dangerous method) and 120.2.7 (deliberate homicide of two or more people) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
Nobody has been detained in connection with this incident.
It is still being determined whether it has been a terror attack or not.
Mainly people, who belong to Vahhabi sect, pray in the Abu Bakir Mosque. In 2008, the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry and the State Committee on Religious Organizations held operations in this Mosque and withdraw religious books which was banned to be spread.
Eldar Mahmudov, the National Security Minister, and Ramil Usubov, the Interior Minister came to the place of incident on 17 August.
