Criminal Group Engaged in Kidnapping Detained in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Kabul, 17 September/ Trend , corr A. Hakimi/ A criminal group engaged in kidnapping of rich people has been detained in Afghanistan. The arrested members of the group admitted during the inquiry that they have bank accounts and private homes abroad.

There is no accurate information about the bank account of group members yet. Preliminary contacts have been established with law-enforcement agencies of some European countries and UAE where the group has members in large numbers.

A total of seven members of the same family were last victims of the criminal group, official representative of National Security Office of Afghanistan Said Ansari said at a news conference. They demanded the family a ransom of $200,000. The group is led by a certain Hudaydad by name. The police detained there members of the group - Abdulvari, Babrak and Zaki in Kabul on 10 September, he added.

Initial investigation showed that the group has committed a lot of crimes, he said.

A total of 43 criminals engaged in kidnapping have been detained for 6 months with 10 criminal groups being banned. A total of 13 hostages were released.
