Georgia, Tbilisi, May 20 / Trend , N.Kirtzkhalia/
In the near future, Abkhazia may prohibit education in the Georgian language, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic Salome Kapanadze told journalists on May 30.
Kapanadze said the students of the Georgian schools undergo trainings for Russian books and their knowledge of the Russian language is tested.
"Abkhazia is going to ban study in the Georgian language. Georgian children are under a difficult situation," Kapanadze said.
A similar situation was in 1953 when study in the Abkhaz schools was transferred from the Georgian language to Russian. The Abkhazian language is still studied only at the primary level.
