On Aug.18 amendments to the law on assemblies and demonstrations come into force. Under the amendments, blocking the governmental agencies and the deliberate hampering the traffic is prohibited.

On Aug.18 amendments to the law on assemblies and demonstrations come into force. Under the amendments, blocking the governmental agencies and the deliberate hampering the traffic is prohibited.

Overlapping street is permissible only if the required number of people gathered at the event.

Police have the right to use non-lethal weapons and other means against demonstrators to keep the public order.

Certain amendments were made in the Code of Administrative Violations. The duration of the administrative penalty is increased from 30 to 90 days detention. Fines also increased to 1,000 lari.

The opposition named the law "Law against democracy and protest."
