Representatives of the Georgian People's Assembly have blocked traffic on Rustaveli Avenue in front of parliament. An assembly meeting launched at 3:00 p.m. to express distrust in the Georgian authorities and identify ways to dismiss President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Roughly 600 people have gathered in front of parliament, which is enough to fill a city square. Howver, former Chief of Georgia's State Security Service and rally organizer Irakli Batiashvili took the decision to block traffic.

According to Georgian law, protesters have the right to block traffic if there is not enough place on the sidewalk.

The patrol police have not reacted to the opposition's decision to block traffic. According to head of the patrol police Giorgi Gegechkori, the police will react as necessary.

The police have already given the opposition the opportunity to block traffic on Rose Square, where representatives of the National Council are assembling. They intend to march down Rustaveli Avenue to join their comrades in front of parliament.
