The restoration of rail service between Georgia and Russia through Abkhazia benefits all, but the return of normalcy will take time, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"Nothing will be done for the detriment of the country. Restoration of the railroad will benefit everyone. The impact will be positive, but things will take quite some time. Everything will be done in stages in order to prevent any issues," he said.
Ivanishvili indicated the possibility of restoring communication through the Abkhaz section of the railway after the settlement of a number of controversial issues with Russia.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is against the restoration of any rail service that transits Abkhazia.
