The Embassy of Germany in Azerbaijan hosted a reception Oct. 4 on the occasion of the German Unity Day, which is celebrated Oct. 3.

Germany’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Kindsgrab said it is his first appointment as an ambassador. The diplomat said he easily found a common language with the people of Azerbaijan.

The ambassador also said he is grateful to the government of Azerbaijan for the good reception.

Germany can do much for diversification of Azerbaijan’s economy and supports the strengthening of relations, he said.

Kindsgrab also noted that he was astonished by the large number of young people who speak German. This will further strengthen the ties between the two countries, he added.

The ambassador also said he was amazed by Baku’s beauty.

Germany is close to Azerbaijan in economic, historical and cultural aspects, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Min Az ister Mahmud Mammadguliyev said at the reception.

Mammadguliyev congratulated the people of Germany and said the relations between the two countries are developing dynamically and will continue to develop in the future.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are developing especially dynamically in the economic sphere, said the deputy FM, adding this is important considering the fact that major economic reforms are underway in Azerbaijan.

Mammadguliyev also emphasized the importance of Berlin’s recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
