BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. The strong partnership and high level of ties between Azerbaijan and Italy have been widely recognized on the international stage, political analyst Azer Garayev told Trend.
“During his recent trip to Italy, President Ilham Aliyev attended a number of crucial engagements. Discussions centered on ways to deepen strategic cooperation between the two nations in a variety of areas during meetings with high-ranking Italian officials, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella,” Garayev said.
The political scientist pointed out that hot topics like energy security, economic partnership, and investment opportunities were stealing the show during the meetings.
“President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who took part as the chief guest in the international forum ‘The European House - Ambrosetti’ in the Italian city of Cernobbio, made a speech on ‘Azerbaijan's role in the new geopolitical situation’, emphasizing the growing role of our country in the global political and economic arena,” he said.
Garayev pointed out that this should be seen as a feather in Azerbaijan's cap, showcasing the international community's recognition of Azerbaijan's significant role in energy security, as well as its leading status in promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.
“In addition, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan's strategic importance for Europe, in particular the importance of cooperation in the field of energy supply. Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also addressed the forum and took part in the discussion of global challenges. Senators and other influencers from the US also attended the forum. This prestigious event is an important platform for international cooperation and dialog, being a meeting place for world leaders and business representatives. Azerbaijan's participation in the Forum has further strengthened our country's international ties, and confirmed its position in global and regional issues,” he said.
The political scientist added that the organizer of the forum, the think tank “The European House - Ambrosetti”, being a reputable institution in the field of management and consulting services, provides important support to the expansion of ties of European, and in particular Italian companies, with their global partners.
“Such events make a significant contribution to strengthening Azerbaijan's international positions and developing opportunities for strategic partnership in the global arena,” Garayev said.
