There is no Bird Flu in Azerbaijan Head of State Veterinary Service

Laboratory research into the final monitoring of the bird flu in Azerbaijan did not reveal any signs of Bird Flu, the Head of the State Veterinary Service, functioning under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture, Ismayl Hasanov, stated, Trendreports.

According to him, emergency measures have been taken in the regions in the event of the virus being discovered and disinfection substances and laboratory equipments being purchased. The veterinary stations have also been supplied with special dress and installations.

Monitoring was conducted in the national parks, reserves and coastal strip of the Caspian Sea. In the future, monitoring will be held twice monthly due to the flow of the migrant birds. Monitoring is held by a special commission comprising of the representatives of State Veterinary Service, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Health Ministry, Union of Hunters and Zoology Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences. Previous monitoring also did not reveal any signs of the bird flu or the death of birds in Azerbaijan.

All border checkpoints of the country are working towards preventing the spread of the virus, and the prohibition remains in effect for the hunting, sale and use of the wild birds in the country and import of the bird products from the countries sustained bird flu.
