Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Azerbaijan will back Iran when considering the nuclear program at the UN General Assembly, according to Azerbaijani independent politician, Rasim Musabeyov.
During the approaching negotiations with the Azerbaijani administration, the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, intends to get support for the forthcoming discussions of Iran's nuclear program to be held at the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, Iranian politician Huseyn Lajavardi reported from Teheran on 21 August.
The resolution against Iran to be accepted during the approaching UN session is expected to be tougher than the ones previously adopted. President Ahmadinejad hopes to receive support with visits to neighbouring and friendly countries.
According to Musabeyov, Azerbaijan may vote for the adoption of the resolution against Iran, if it is not too strict. Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated its position, which is recognition of Iran's right for a peaceful nuclear program.
Iran also hopes to get assurance from Azerbaijan on the refusal from mutually beneficial relationships with the West and Israel, the politician said. " Azerbaijan will have to maintain a balance," he added.
