The Azerbaijani Education Ministry holds phased works to resolve problems indicated by Chairman of the Education Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev, Minister of Education Misir Mardanov told journalists today.
"I agree with his opinion, we are aware of existing problems and will implement the relevant works to solve them step by step," Mardanov said.

Earlier, at the meeting on the new mechanism of financing higher education institutions the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev drew rectors' attention to a number of problems regarding the education. Mehdiyev noted that though Azerbaijan was one of the countries developing dynamically, it needed highly skilled specialists. "But held examinations for admission to state service, as well as tests held by appropriate companies showed that standard of knowledge of graduates did not meet standards. All these problems show existing defects in the activity of higher education facilities. One of the main problems is that cadre personnel is getting old quickly and there is not enough young cadre to establish European education standards in Azerbaijan," he said.

According to Mehdiyev, though all higher education facilities announced their joining to Bologna process, only very few changes have been reflected in their programs remained since soviet period. Most of the students are not able to demonstrate enough knowledge meeting standards of international test systems in English language and informatics. "All these show negative factors in higher education institutions," he added.
