BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. The Baku circuit is one of my favorite tracks on the Formula 1 calendar, said Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc during a press conference after the second day of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Trend reports.
Leclerc, who has started from pole position in Baku for four years running, admitted that while he hasn’t won here yet, he hopes to change that this year.
"This is one of my favorite circuits. I thought this weekend might be tough after the crash in the first practice session, but it didn’t shake my confidence because I knew we had good pace," he said.
During the second practice, an issue with a new car component cost the team half an hour in the garage. On his final run, Leclerc took a bit of a risk and managed to put in a great lap.
"The car felt amazing, everything went smoothly, and I’m really happy to secure pole. With Ferrari starting from first and third, we’re hoping to work together tomorrow and take the win," said Leclerc.
It’s worth noting that tomorrow, September 15, is the final day of the Azerbaijan Formula 1 Grand Prix.
