Azerbaijan Ecology Ministry Averted Shamakhy Forest from Fire

This night the employees of the Ministry of Ecology of Azerbaijan Republic have prevented the forest in the Shamakhy District from fire. The fire first emerged on the agricultural lands of the village of Kalva (Aghsu) on August 14 which then was spread to the part of the Forest Fund of the Association of Protection and Rehabilitation of Forests of Shamakhy. According to Khalil Ramazanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Development of Forests of the Ministry of Ecology of Azerbaijan Republic, the fire has been spread 160 hectares, 10 hectares of which have fallen at the part of the Shamakhy Forest Fund. The fire has damaged mainly bushes, trees could be saved.

At present on the spot where the fire was the specialists of the above-mentioned Department, as well as the Centre of Emergency Situations of the Ministry are determining the damage the fire did to the environment. Also an investigation in the direction of the determination of causes of the fire and the guilty is being held, underlined the Specialist of the Ministry. At present with the goal of prevention of fires the duty and appropriate measures on mineralization of the territories around the forests are being carried out by the central and local offices of the Ministry of Ecology.

It should be noted that on August 10 the Ministry of Ecology prevented on the territory of 0,02 hectare near the Lake of Jeyranbatan from fire. It emerged because an unextinguished cigarette-end passers-by had thrown. The specialists of the Khirdalan Association of Protection and Rehabilitation of Forests prevented valuable species of forests and other valuable vegetation that make up the sanitary-protecting line across the lake from damage.
