Turkiye reveals volume of cargo turnover of its Esenboga International Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Esenboga International Airport in Turkish Ankara handled 33,357 tons in May 2022, up 71 percent from May 2021, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

The airport's cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 22,026 tons during this period (an increase of 41 percent compared to May 2021), on international flights - 11,331 tons (an increase of 1.9 times).

Passenger traffic at airport amounted to 3.1 million people, which is 77 percent more than in May 2021. At the same time, the passenger traffic on local flights amounted to 2.5 million people (an increase of 62 percent), on international flights - 575,191 people (an increase of 2 times).

According to the ministry, the number of flights performed in May 2022 amounted to 27,335, which is 45 percent more than in May 2021. At the same time, the number of flights performed on local routes amounted to 21,376 (an increase of 33 percent), on international routes - 5,959 (an increase of 1.1 times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Turkiye amounted to 56.9 million people in May 2022, and cargo turnover – 1.3 million tons.
