ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 17. The development of industrial cooperation, including increasing the supply of critical materials from Kazakhstan to Germany, is a key focus of collaboration, said President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting with the leaders of Central Asia and the German Chancellor, Trend reports.
"Kazakhstan invites German companies to join in the exploration and extraction of rare earth metals. I propose a 'raw materials for technology' partnership, with both primary and secondary ore processing taking place in the region. In this regard, we welcome the investment by HMS Bergbau to mine and process lithium in East Kazakhstan, an over $500 million project," he said.
President Tokayev also highlighted Kazakhstan's continued commitment to providing favorable conditions for German investors to explore and develop deposits of precious and non-ferrous metals in the country.
"I believe it would be beneficial, with the support of our European partners, to establish a Regional Research Center for Rare Earth Metals, based at Kazakhstan’s Technological Forecasting Center," said President Tokayev.
