Absence of direct route is the major problem for Kazakh grain supply to Iraq, ProdKorporatsiya Company Foreign Economy Department Director Daulet Uvashev told Trend correspondent in Astana.
"Our deliveries to this country [Iraq] are minimal despite Iraq's repeated appeals on purchase of our grain," Uvashev said..
Director of the Department said that Kazakhstan does not have direct exit to the Persian Gulf, where grain loading is done for Iraq at the Um Kafr port.
"Major reasons are weak logistics and overload of marine passages. So, it is hard for Kazakh grain to enter Iraq," he said.
According to Uvashev, Iraqi market is mainly supplied by American and German wheat. Earlier, grain was also supplied from Australia.
