Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreases

Turkey's foreign trade deficit has decreased by 27.3 percent to $9.8 billion in April 2012 compared to the same month in 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute said today.

Turkey's exports increased by 6.8 percent to $12.6 billion in April 2012 compared to the same month in 2011. Imports to Turkey fell by eight percent to $19.2 billion in April.

The most Turkish exports fall to Iran- $1.47 billion or 4.4 times more than in April 2011, Germany - $ 1.1 billion, Iraq - $ 86 million, Great Britain - $651 million, Russia - $536 million

Imports from EU countries to Turkey hit 37.6 percent of the total imports in April 2012 compared to 48.9 percent in April 2011. Turkey's exports to the EU for the period increased by 17.8 percent and hit $ 4.7 billion.

The most Turkish imports fall to Russia to the amount of $ 1.9 billion or 24.4 percent more than in the corresponding month of 2011, Germany - $ 1.6 billion, and China - $1.5 billion.
