By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:
A phone conversation took place between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkish President Abdullah Gul at the initiative of the Turkish side, a message of the Turkmen government said on Feb.14.
The parties expressed confidence that the existing enormous potential of the Turkmen-Turkish dialogue is a strong basis for the implementation of new large-scale joint projects that serve the economic prosperity of the two countries and the region as a whole.
In this connection, the Turkish leader turned to the head of Turkmenistan inviting him to visit Turkey at a convenient time. In turn, the president of Turkmenistan invited the Turkish president to visit Turkmenistan.
The time of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels, a message from the Turkmen government said.
In addition, the two leaders discussed some aspects of international and regional policy of mutual interest.
Turkey is one of Turkmenistan's largest trade and economic partners. Currently, over 600 Turkish companies are operating in the local market and are implementing joint projects in electricity, oil and gas complex, construction, transport, communications, textiles industry and agricultural industry.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth for the natural gas reserves in the world and exports this fuel to Chinese, CIS and Iranian markets.
The options of construction of gas pipelines from Turkmenistan to South Asian and European markets are being studied.
One of the best options for delivery of Turkmen resources to the European market is the project on construction of a 300 km long pipeline to the coast of Azerbaijan through Caspian Sea bed. Then the Turkmen fuel may reach Turkey, which borders with the European countries.
