Kazakhstan and China plan to increase bilateral cargo transportation by 23 percent to 9 million tons in 2016 compared to the 2015

Kazakhstan and China plan to increase bilateral cargo transportation by 23 percent to 9 million tons in 2016 compared to the 2015, Kazakh railways company reported following the meeting of its delegation with Chinese colleagues.

In 2015 cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China reached 7.09 million tons, according to the company. In Jan. – July 2016 as much as 4.49 million tons of cargo were transported through Kazakh-Chinese border crossing sections Dostyk - Alashankou and Altynkol – Khorgos, which is 127,000 tons more than the same period of 2015.

Container traffic between two countries is also increasing. As much as 554 container trains from China to Europe and from Europe to China passed through Kazakhstan in Jan-July 2016, which is 2.5 times more compared to with the same period of 2015.
In 2017 the parties plan to increase bilateral cargo transportation to 11.5 million tons.
