Uzbekistan, Egypt to develop co-op in textile industry

Uzbekistan's Uztekstilprom association discussed further expansion of cooperation in textile and sewing-knitwear industry with a delegation from Egypt's El-Shamsi Group in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported March 24.

According to the reports, the Egyptian delegation especially underlined the recent economical achievements of Uzbekistan and expressed interest of the El-Shamsi Group in possible realization of joint projects. They proposed to jointly produce goods from yarn under the El-Shamsi brand.

The Uzbek side offered to create a joint road map and a plan between Uztekstilprom and El-Shamsi Group, and to attract large Egyptian companies to realization of joint investment projects, including production of finished textile, sewing and knitwear products.

The Egyptian side got acquainted with prospective plans under the state program for development of textile and sewing-knitwear production in 2017-2019. The parties agreed to organize additional meetings in Kazakhstan and Russia.

The El-Shamsi Group was established in 1958 and is a large producer and distributor of textile goods and apparel with a wide retail network in Egypt and the Middle East. The company has six manufactures and more than 40 retail outlets of finished clothes under the Dalydress, Premoda and Shatex Home brands.
