The Central Bank of Uzbekistan will issue new coins in nominal value of 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums from July 2, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated.
All coins are made of nickel-plated steel and have a white color. They have the same round shape and smooth lateral side and differ in diameter. The reverse side of the coins is the same - the state emblem of Uzbekistan is depicted in the center. On the outer edge of the coat of arms “O'ZBEKISTON MARKAZIY BANKI” is written, the “2018” number is depicted under the coat of arms. Along the outer circle, 72 convex spherical points are marked.
The coins issued for circulation are obligatory for acceptance in all types of payments by all economic entities and groups of population without restrictions.
At the same time, coins of 50 soums of 2001-2002, coins of 100 soums of 2004 and 2009, as well as banknotes of 50 and 100 soums of 1994 will be accepted for all types of payments without restrictions until July 1, 2019. Those banknotes and coins coming to the banks' cash departments are not allowed to be put back into circulation.
Banknotes of 200 and 500 soums will be accepted for all types of payments without restrictions in parallel with new coins until July 1, 2020. Beginning July 1, 2019, these banknotes coming to the banks' cash desks are not allowed to be reissued.
