Iran to assign up to $7.1B of credit to small, medium-sized enterprises

The Central Bank of Iran is to allocate $1.2 billion credit, to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in the current Iranian year (started March 21 , 2019), said the CBI governor Abdolnaser Hemmati.

"The Central Bank of Iran is seriously following to support small and medium sized enterprises, in this regard the CBI is drafting new plans to avoid recession in the form of productive financial plan," Hemmati said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Despite the current limits, the banking system is a supporter of production sector in the country, the financial advances to production sector will increase, while up to $7.1 billion credit will be assigned to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)," he indicated.

"The Central Bank of Iran is making all the efforts to resolve the obstacles in the private sector, the sector that is a strong force in Iran's economy,” he noted.

"Fortunately the foreign exchange market has become stable and the process of returning export's foreign currency revenues has improved that show businessmen are inclined toward recent foreign currency policies," he noted.

Hemmati that the CBI agenda is to preserve the balance in Iran markets and control foreign exchange market.

The official expressed hope that the continuation of stability in markets would create better production.
