Central Asia Metals PLC talks 1Q2020 copper extraction results in Kazakhstan

The UK’s Central Asia Metals PLC copper extracting company is expecting to reach the milestone of 100,000 tons of copper produced from its field in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the company’s 1Q2020 operations report.

The company is operating Kounrad copper field in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region near Balkhash city. The company said that Kounrad field production was 3,201 tons in 1Q2020.

“Total Kounrad copper production since operations commenced in 2012 is 99,446 tons, and the company expects to reach the milestone of 100,000 tons of copper produced from the Kounrad field in 2Q2020,” the company’s report said.

Total copper recovered from the Western Dumps in 1Q2020 was 2,396 tons, equating to approximately 75 percent of the amount plated. Copper sales during 1Q2020 were 3,191 tons.

Central Asia Metals PLC copper is the sole owner and operator of the solvent extraction–electrowinning copper recovery plant at the Kounrad mine site, near the city of Balkhash in central Kazakhstan.

The facility recovers copper from waste dumps (Eastern and Western dumps) that originated from the Kounrad open-pit copper mine.

Central Asia Metals PLC is a UK-based copper, zinc and lead production and exploration company, with operations in Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
