Georgia exported 376 tons of blueberries from May 1 to June 29, which is 14 percent higher compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection.
The earnings from exports amounted to $2.5 million, which is a 14 percent increase compared to last year.
Georgian blueberries were exported to:
Russia – 363 tons;
United Arab Emirates – 8.3 tons;
Armenia – 2 tons;
Qatar – 1.5 tons;
Moldova – 0.9 tons.
The export price of Georgian blueberries has increased by 10 percent and is $6.5 per kilogram.
In recent years, the government of Georgia, within the framework of state programs, has been helping farmers who grow high-quality blueberries. The plantations of this culture are spread over several hundred hectares in the regions of Imereti, Samegrelo, Adjara and Guria.
Blueberry exports from Georgia in 2020 amounted to more than $3 million.
