BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 20
By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
Iran's trade turnover with the UAE amounted to 13.4 million tons worth about $11.2 billion, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), Iranian co-chair of the Iran-UAE Joint Chamber of Commerce Erfan Shakeri told ILNA, Trend reports.
According to Shakeri, Iran exported 6.6 million tons of goods worth $2.59 billion in 7 months, which has increased by 12 percent in value, while decreased by 22 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Shakeri also added that Iran imported 6.87 million tons of goods worth about $8.6 billion from the UAE in seven months. The imports increased by 82 percent in value and 169 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
“The increase in Iran’s imports from the UAE reflects the increase in consumption in the country,” he said.
Shakeri noted that Iran's low exports to the UAE are due to a number of issues, one of which is that the country's economic opportunities for exports are 'misused'. He did not elaborate.
