BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Iran's raw steel output increased by 3 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the statistics of Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran produced 13 million tons of raw steel for 5 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure stood at 12.6 million tons.
In addition, 9.42 million tons of steel products were manufactured in Iran within 5 months, representing a 4-percent growth compared to 9.05 million tons in the same period last year.
Moreover, Iran produced approximately 15.7 million tons of sponge iron in 5 months. This is an increase of 7.1 percent compared to 14.6 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
