BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. Iran’s local bus production decreased by 25 percent in the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade of Iran, a total of 420 buses were manufactured in the country during the past six months.
Meanwhile, in the first half of the previous Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), Iran’s local bus manufacturing stood at 560 units.
In the 6th month alone (August 23 through September 22, 2023), Iran produced 89 buses domestically, representing a 35-percent decrease from 136 units in the same month the previous year.
Overall, 1,391 local buses were produced in Iran within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 88 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).
In total, 642,930 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were produced in Iran in the first half of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 22.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies, Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
