Iran observes decline in domestic bus production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 7. Domestic bus manufacturing in Iran fell by 31.4 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

As was reflected in the data from Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, Iran produced 683 buses during 9 months.

In the corresponding period as the previous Iranian year, Iran’s local bus output stood at 996 vehicles.

Over the 9th month (November 22 through December 21, 2023), 76 buses were manufactured within the country, representing a 53.3-percent decline from 163 units in the same month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, 1,391 local buses were produced in Iran within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 88 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).

Overall, 989,913 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were manufactured in Iran in 9 months. This is an increase of 12.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies, Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
