Azerbaijani Oil Terminal in Georgia Temporarily Suspends Receipt of Cargo

E.Ismayilov / The Azerbaijani Black Sea oil terminal in the Georgian Kulevi port has temporarily suspended receipt of oil-loading cargo due to the explosion broke out near the Georgian Caspian City. At present, internal technical repairs have been held on the terminal.

Terminal was being transferred cargo when the explosion broke out. At present, no cargo has been transferred via the terminal.

No cargo is delivered to the port. An alternative bridge is expected to be put into operation.

The oil-loading transport from Azerbaijan and Central Asia was suspended due to the explosion that broke out on the bridge on 16 August. At present, the repairs over the bridge are expected to be completed within a week. However, the works on the alternative section have been completed.

Kulevi terminal will be able to accept up to 168 cisterns simultaneously. The tank battery's volume totals 380,000 cu m. The port can accept tankers with the deadweight up to 100,000 tons. The total trans-shipment capacity of the terminal is 10mln tons oil per year, including 2mln tons oil, 3mln tons diesel and 4mln tons black oil. Its capacity is expected to be increased to 15-20mln tons within 2 years. The total volume of reserve park is 380,000 cu m.
