Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.20 / Trend corr E. Ismayilov / In January 2009, the state gas control office under the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry imposed a ban on gas supply to 23 greenhouses [especially vegetable and fruit greenhouses] due to infringement of demands of normative documents and gas usage, head of the department on gas supply control and introduction of new gas control technologies Otel Huseynov said.
These greenhouses are mainly located in Surakhani, Azizbayov and Binagadi districts of Baku.
"Basic violations in this sphere are inappropriate to rules on gas economy, particularly utilization of irregular heating utilities, pipelines and rubber hoses, gas leakage, as well as illegal, uneconomical and ineffective usage of fuel," Huseynov said.
These greenhouses have heating utilities causing ineffective gas usage which leads to the decrease of gas pressure in the network which negatively affects the gas supply to settlements and enterprises located near these greenhouses. "Therefore, utilization of inappropriate gas devices should be banned," Huseynov said.
An appeal on illegal usage of 47,000 cubic meters of gas in greenhouses located in Sabunchu region of Baku was developed during January. Huseynov said the loss was estimated in the amount of 4, 687,500 manats.
Head of the gas control office Asif Zeynalov earlier said about 50 such greenhouses were detected so far in 2009. "Owners of these greenhouses leave many people without gas by installing special gas pumps," Zeynalov said.
