Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, August 18 / Trend G. Hasanov /

Belgorchimprom OJSC (Belorussia) has launched the construction of an ore mining and processing complex in Turkmenistan with an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons of chemical fertilizers, the Turkmenchemistry state concern said.

The construction of the ore mining and processing complex is worth $1 billion. According to the project an underground mine is planned to be constructed to develop reserves of potash ore in the Garlyc field. Transport of the ready product will be made by railway and vehicle.

A thermoelectric power station will be constructed at the ore mining and processing complex on the gas-turbine plant's base. The construction of the ore mining and processing complex is planned to last five years. After it is put into operation, the complex will create more than 1,500 jobs.

The production of chemical fertilizers is one of the most profitable areas. The stable growth of the world's population, the increase in demand for grain and oil-yielding crops and the state of the world's agricultural production market were major factors towards the huge demand for this kind of production in bio-fuels.

Besides increasing the harvest, potash fertilizers increase the quality of products grown. This is testified by plants' increased resistibility to illnesses and fruits being more durable while in storage and transportation.
