Uzbekenergo starts construction of Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex’s power supply facilities

The State Joint Stock Company "Uzbekenergo" started construction of power supply facilities of Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex (GCC) at the Surgil field (Ustyurt region), a source in the company's leadership told Trend.

According to the source, the project worth $44.6 million envisages the construction of a substation with capacity of 220 kV with two transmission lines of 220 with length of 138 kilometers and 110 kV with length of 18 kilometers by 2014.

The project will be financed at the own expense of "Uzbekenergo" and loans from local commercial banks.

As previously reported, in 2011 JV Uz-KorGasChemical started the construction of Ustyurt GCC worth $ 3.9 billion.

In accordance with the feasibility study, GCC will annually process 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce up to four billion cubic meters of marketable gas, 400,000 tons of polyethylene, 100,000 tons of polypropylene, and about 100,000 tons of pyrolysis gasoline.

In the charter capital of KorGasChemical, 50 percent is owned by Uzbekneftegaz and 50 percent - Korean consortium consisting of Korea Gas Corporation KOGAS, Honam Petrochemical and STX Energy.
