Inflation in Kazakhstan reaches 3.7%

Inflation in Kazakhstan in October equaled 0.4 percent compared to September, and 3.7 percent compared to the beginning of the year, Kazakh media reported, referring to the Statistics Committee of the National Economy Ministry.

Compared to September, prices for food increased by 0.3 percent (2.6 percent year-to-date), for non-food products - by 0.7 percent (5.1 percent YTD) and for paid services for population - by 0.2 percent (3.5 percent YTD).

Since the beginning of the year, price increases have been recorded for sugar - by 20.9 percent, rennet cheese - 10.6 percent, canned milk - 9.4 percent, horse meat - 8.5 percent, butter - 7.4 percent, fermented milk products - 6.2 percent, pork and sausages - 5.8 percent, beef - 5.3 percent and lamb - 5.1 percent.

The price decrease was recorded for garlic - by 37.2 percent, sweet pepper - 36.1 percent, potatoes - 28 percent, onions - 24.1 percent, buckwheat - 21.2 percent, and carrots - 14.8 percent.

Prices for cars and building materials grew by 6.3 percent, clothes and shoes - 6.1 percent, pharmaceutical products - 6 percent, household appliances - 5.9 percent, textiles - 5.8 percent, office supplies - 5.7 percent, goods of personal use - 5.2 percent, washing and cleaning products - 4.4 percent, furniture and household goods - 4.1 percent. Price for diesel fuel rose by 20 percent, coal - 6.8 percent, liquefied gas in cylinders - 6 percent, while gasoline price fell by 2.7 percent.

Also, prices for cable TV services increased by 11.4 percent, legal services and insurance of personal vehicles - 6 percent, services of preschool institutions and medical services - 5.5 percent, hairdressing and personal service facilities - 4.3 percent, sanatorium services - 3.8 percent, higher education - 3.6 percent, cellular communication and subscription fee for Internet access - 3.1 percent.
