The number of payment cards used in Kazakhstan in October increased by 2.7 percent compared to September, reaching 10.6 million, Trend reports with reference to Ranking.kz. The annual growth is 14.9 percent.
The share of active cards in the number of all cards in circulation in Kazakhstan increased from 48.5 to 48.6 percent for the month.
Most of the cards used in October were debit cards: 8.8 million, which is 50.7 percent of all debit cards in circulation. At the same time, the number of credit cards used reached 1.5 million, which is 40.7 percent of all credit cards in circulation.
Almost half of all cards used fell on the share of Almaty: 5 million, 47.2 percent of the total number of cards used in Kazakhstan in October, a 73.4 percent growth for the year.
East Kazakhstan region ranked second: 833,400 cards, a 34.2 percent growth for the year. The share in the total number of cards used increased from 6.7 to 7.9 percent.
Turkistan region and Shymkent were third with 697,400 cards used, which is 12.4 percent less year-on-year. Their share decreased from 8.6 to 6.6 percent.
