Baku Stock Exchange unveils 5M2021 data on transactions in gov't securities

The total volume of transactions in government securities at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) exceeded 4.45 billion manat ($2.61 billion), and their number - 1,072 in the first five months of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the reported data of the BSE.

According to the report, 773 transactions worth over 3.84 billion manat or $2.25 billion (86.4 percent of the total volume of transactions in government securities) were made in the primary market, of which about 78 percent (447 transactions) - on short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) for a total amount 3 billion manat ($1.76 billion). The bonds of the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan accounted for 326 transactions in the volume of 845.1 million manat ($497.1 million).

The secondary market for government securities accounted for 299 transactions totaling 606.6 million manat ($356.8 million). Their share was 13.6 percent of the total number of transactions in government securities.

The volume of repo transactions on government bonds exceeded 2.1 billion manat or $1.23 billion (1,382 transactions). The total volume of repo transactions carried out in the capital market in January through March of this year is estimated at 2.27 billion manat ($1.33 billion).

The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of May 2021 amounted to 4.22 billion manat ($2.48 billion), having increased by 9 percent since the beginning of the year.
