BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. The cumulative sum of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan from January through September 2023 amounted to 10.46 billion Turkmen manat ($3 billion), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these statistics reflect an increase of 23.9 percent compared to the corresponding data from the initial 9 months of the previous year, which stood at 8.44 billion Turkmen manat or $2.41 billion.
The total amount of non-cash payments through ATMs amounted to 240.89 million Turkmen manat ($68.76 million), which is 40.3 percent more than in the first nine months of 2022 (171.63 million Turkmen manat or $49 million).
At the same time, the total volume of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.93 billion), which is 27.6 percent more than in 2021 (10.81 billion Turkmen manat or $3.08 billion).
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's financial sector is experiencing continuous expansion. Notably, mobile applications are being introduced for a wide range of service and product payments, electronic transaction volumes are increasing, and the settlement for goods and services is being streamlined through the use of banking terminals.
