Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 20
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
Azerbaijan's communication operator in Baku - "Baku telephone communication" LLC has dissolved the department responsible for the operation of the CDMA network, a source in the telecommunication market of the country told Trend.
As a result of structural changes in the company, a new department will be established, which will be responsible for the functioning of CDMA, LTE and "Public Wi-Fi" networks, the source said.
The number of CDMA subscribers of the operator has decreased by almost 4.3 percent from the beginning of the year, and now their number reaches about 6,700 people, the source said.
The downward trend is observed against the background of expansion of LTE and fixed telephony service coverage in settlements where previously the subscribers mostly used CDMA. Another reason is the lack of opportunity for arrangement of CDMA-based high-speed broadband services.
The number of CDMA base stations used in the network of the capital city’s communication operator amounts to 24 units. The network covers the city of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
The communication services within the CDMA standard are provided by the indices "511" and "555". According to the agreement with Aztelekom LLC, the domestic roaming is used to provide communication services to subscribers of "Baku telephone communication" LLC at the regional level.
