As many as 13,882 tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish airport in Adana Province from January through July 2020, which is a 48 percent decline in comparison to the same period of 2019, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 25.
During the reporting period, 10,771 tons of cargo were handled by domestic flights, having shown a 44 percent drop on an annualized basis.
Meanwhile, 3,111 tons of cargo were transported through the Adana Airport by international flights, decreasing by 57 percent compared to the same period of 2019, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the airport served slightly over 1.4 million passengers in the first 7 months of this year, which is a 52 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.
In the mentioned period, 1.25 million passengers were served on domestic flights (a plunge of 51 percent).
Around 156,783 passengers were served on international flights during the reporting period, a decline of 63 percent over the year.
The ministry noted that 13,820 flights were carried out at the Adana Airport, a year-on-year decrease of 42 percent.
During the reporting period, 12,290 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 38 percent less than in the same period of 2019.
International flights at the airport in Adana Province slumped by 59 percent, amounting to 1,530 flights.
At the same time, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 50.9 percent and amounted to 431,049 flights.
From January through July this year, over 42.6 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.
Over the reporting period, more than 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
