SCO member states in talks over trade, economic co-op in transport and logistics fields

Heads of transport ministries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states discussed issues of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek delegation at the eighth meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the member states of the SCO was headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport Davron Dekhkanov.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation relations and issues of the widespread introduction of modern digital technologies in the field and exchanged views on the coordination of work within the framework of the program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

“Cooperation between the SCO member states in the field of transport has great potential, the implementation of which will undoubtedly contribute to the sustainable development of our countries and the strengthening of multilateral trade and economic ties,” Davron Dekhkanov said.

The delegations of the SCO member states also exchanged views on ensuring the sustainable operation of transport networks in the event of emergencies, in particular the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the development of the industry in the post-pandemic period.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai on 15 June 2001. The SCO currently comprises eight Member States (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan).
