Iran eyes decrease in passenger transportation via Bandar Abbas International Airport

The number of passengers transported through the Bandar Abbas International Airport in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) decreased by 2 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

In general, 528,463 passengers were transported through the airport in 7 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 537,802.

According to the statistics, 7,354 passenger planes took off and landed at the Bandar Abbas International Airport within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 24 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 5,919 in the same period last Iranian year.

“Moreover, 5,365 tons of cargo were transported through the Bandar Abbas International Airport over seven months. Cargo transportation increased by 6 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 5,083 tons of cargo had been transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, Iran’s Bandar Abbas International Airport is located on an area of 4,480 hectares.
